At SMÂÛ̳, pianists thrive in a studio culture that combines one-on-one instruction with rich opportunities to perform and collaborate on campus and across the community. 

Since 2023, Professor Feifei Jiang has elevated the program with higher artistic standards, expanded public visibility, and strong connections to guest artists and regional partners.

Student Success

  • Sophia Chavanu — winner of the SMÂÛ̳/Lincoln Civic Orchestra Concerto Auditions (2023); soloist with LCO (2024); standout Senior Recital (2024); now teaching in SDA public schools.
  • Honors Performers (2025) — Jacen Smith and Daniel Kuncl, recognized for excellence on the 2nd Annual SMÂÛ̳ Piano Day.
  • Studio accolades include top honors at American Protégé, Steinway Junior, MTNA/NMTA, Chicago International, San Jose International, Conero International, Aloha International, and the International Grand Music Competition, with appearances at Carnegie Hall and Kaufman Music Center.

Signature Events and Guest Artists 

  • 2nd Annual SMÂÛ̳ Piano Day (2025) with guest artist Dr. SÅ‚awomir DobrzaÅ„ski (Professor of Piano, Kansas State University); shared concert with the JF Piano Duo and multi-level masterclasses.
  • 1st Annual SMÂÛ̳ Piano Day (2024)with featured Steinway Artist Jackson Berkey (former keyboardist of Mannheim Steamroller) in masterclasses and a featured concert.
  • Ongoing residencies connect students with world-class pianists, educators, and composers, expanding networks and repertoire.
