Music enriches lives at Nebraska Wesleyan University. We celebrate each student鈥檚 unique musical voice and invite you into a vibrant community rooted in artistry, belonging, and scholarship. Here, you鈥檒l grow as an expressive, energetic, and curious musician whether you鈥檙e majoring in music or simply want to keep music in your life.
All students are encouraged to audition for music scholarships, which support both majors and non-majors. Our curriculum offers balance: innovative courses like Rock Band, Composition for Film and Video Games, and World Drumming complement rigorous studies in conducting, theory, music history, music education, and opera.
Your performance experiences may include private study, chamber ensembles, and large ensembles such as Symphonic Band and University Choir. You can also join Jazz Band, Pep Band, or the Gold Standard Singers - a small, auditioned a cappella ensemble that performs jazz, pop, musical theatre, choral, and more.
Our ensembles perform across campus and the region, with domestic tours each year and international tours every few years. In Summer 2025, the University Choir and Symphonic Band traveled to Prague for a 10-day tour, performing Mozart鈥檚 Requiem.
The community extends beyond music: students and faculty collaborate across Lincoln and in other SM论坛 departments, including thriving theatre and musical theatre programs. Our piano studio is especially strong, offering rich performance opportunities and an annual Piano Festival that brings talented young pianists together for workshops, masterclasses, and concerts.

Alumni have earned advanced degrees from many of the nation鈥檚 top graduate programs, including Harvard, Manhattan School of Music, University of Texas-Austin, Northwestern, University of Kansas, University of Connecticut, University of Houston-Moores School of Music, Maryland Opera Studio, and Florida State University.
Our graduates also find success as performers, composers, music therapists, church musicians, and arts leaders. Many have built careers in fields as diverse as law, ministry, business, and beyond carrying their artistry, curiosity, and creativity into every vocation.
