Employment Opportunity for the Position of Part-Time Lighting and Sound Technician
Nebraska Wesleyan University seeks applications for an individual who will serve in a part-time role as the Lighting and Sound Technician within the Music Department. This role is responsible for the preparation and execution of all lighting and sound elements for departmental performances, including operating equipment during technical rehearsals and live events.
This is an as-needed position during the academic year, with varying hours primarily in the evenings and on weekends, averaging approximately 300 hours per academic year.
- Operate lighting and sound consoles during technical rehearsals and performances
- Create, maintain, and update production documentation related to lighting and sound
- Coordinate technical needs with scenic, lighting, props, and costume departments
- Assist with rehearsal preparation and equipment setup as needed
- One year of experience working with lights and sound for stage performances
- Experience with Electronic Theatre Controls (ETC) and BiAmp Sound Systems
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with this occupation, including bending, reaching, climbing, walking up and down stairs, and moving objects up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work at heights over 20 feet.
- Knowledge of chain motors, Light networking (DMX), LED ETC Fixtures, ETC Eos Software and Shure Wireless Microphones
- Excellent communication, planning, troubleshooting and organizational skills
