Add Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) and recovery options in Okta

- Login to
- Click on your name in the upper right hand corner and select "Settings". You might have to enter your password again.
- Now depending on what MFA you choose to setup, you will use one of the following.
Okta Verify
- Install the Okta Verify app from your phones App Store.
- On the right hand side of the screen under "Security Methods" select "Set Up" to the right of "Okta Verify"
- Enter your password in the screen that pops up, plus if you have setup other MFA that might be required also.
- Click on the "Set Up" Button
- Open the Okta Verify app on your phone.
- Click on the "+" on the top of the app.
- Choose "Organization" for Account Type
- If you see the QR Code on your computer screen click "Yes, ready to scan" on your phone
Point the phone at the screen and scan the QR Code on the screen with the Okta Verify app.
It will ask you if you want to enable your phones biometrics (FaceID, Fingerprint, FingerID, etc...) which must be done.
Might ask if you want to set as Default Okta FastPass Account, which is recommended.
Click Done
- The screen on your computer should have switched back to the "Settings" page as your are done setting up Okta Verify.
YubiKey/Windows Hello
- On the right hand side of the screen under "Security Methods" select "Set Up" to the right of "Security Key or Biometric"
- Enter your password in the screen that pops up, plus if you have setup other MFA that might be required also.
- Click the "Set Up" button
- Click the "Set Up" button on the new window
YubiKey
- Put in your Yubikey and when prompted touch the touch point.
- Click on the "Allow" button that might pop up.
- Windows Hello
- Touch ID
- It should finish up and now return you to the settings page.
